Social neuroscience

Social neuroscience studies the relationships between brain, emotions and social behaviour, explores the neurobiological basis of social capacity and its evolution, and inquires how evolutionary pressure favours the emergence of the specialized social brain networks that allow humans to build up complex societies.

It represents an important area of study on the quality of life in patients and caregivers with neurodegenerative diseases, where an important role is played by psychosocial features such as isolation, poorer perceived social support, loss of autonomy, and dependency on others.
