Obesity

Overweight and obesity are major public health problems globally and are risk factors for various chronic diseases.

Excess weight is an excessive accumulation of body fat due to an imbalance between the calories consumed and the calories burned, often due to excessive eating and insufficient physical activity. Thus, when obesity is not due to a pathological condition, it can be prevented by adopting healthier lifestyles.

The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS, Italian National Institute of Health) contributes to the fight against obesity through various population surveillance systems  and through training and communication on nutrition and physical activity.

Il Decalogo ha come obiettivo quello di informare le donne in gravidanza l'uso 'responsabile' del cibo adottando scelte e comportamenti consapevoli con conseguente riduzione del rischio.
