Back Press Release N°64/2021 COVID-19: the main monitoring data from the Situation Room

Here are the main data that emerged from the Situation Room:
● The weekly incidence at national level continued to increase: 125 per 100 thousand inhabitants (19/11/2021 - 25/11/2021) versus 98 per 100 thousand inhabitants (12/11/2021 – 18/11/2021), data provided by the Ministry of Health.
● In the period from 3 November to 16 November 2021, the average Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was equal to 1.23 (range 1.15 - 1.30), hence stable compared to the previous week and above the epidemic threshold. The transmissibility index based on hospitalized cases increased slightly and was above the epidemic threshold (Rt = 1.15 (1.11-1.19) at 16/11/2021 versus Rt = 1.09 (1,04-1.14) to 9/11/2021).
● Bed occupancy in intensive care was 6.2% (Ministry of Health daily survey as at 25 November) versus 5.3% (Ministry of Health daily survey as at 18 November). Bed occupancy in medical wards at national level rose to 8.1% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 25 November) versus 7.1% as at 18 October.
● One Region was classified as high risk, 18 Regions / Autonomous Provinces were classified as moderate risk. Among these, one Region has a high probability of progressing to high risk according to the Ministerial Decree of 20 April 2020.
● Ten Regions / Autonomous Provinces reported a resilience alert. None of the Regions reported multiple resilience alerts.
● There was a sharp increase in the number of new cases not associated with transmission chains (23,971 versus 15,773 in the previous week). The percentage of cases detected through contact tracing remained stable (34% versus 34% the previous week). The percentage of cases detected through the onset of symptoms also remained stable (45% versus 45%), as did the percentage of cases diagnosed through screening activities (21% versus 21%).
