AIDS and STD Hotline Celebrates 30th Anniversary
To celebrate 30 years of operation of the “AIDS and STD Hotline - 800861061”, an extraordinary event titled “Music, Art and Entertainment” was organized on 20 June 2017 from 5:30 PM to late at night in the gardens of the ISS. The event featured a cross-fertilization of science, performing arts (music, singing, theatre, dancing, poetry) and sports by involving researchers, artists, athletes, institutions and citizens to convey a message promoting STD prevention, targeted to different population groups, especially young people.

The Event
It was a 2-part event: the first part was dedicated to science with experts addressing the audience, the second part was dedicated to art, with musicians, singers, contemporary art dancers and groups of Latin American dancers and athletes taking centre stage. They all participated gratuitously to raise awareness among the 600+ people of all ages who attended the event. Stages and chairs where set up in the gardens of the ISS: one for music performances and the other for dance, theatre and sports. Stands dedicated to health promotion were set up in a dedicated area, where more than 30 posters were also displayed.
Students received attendance certificates to obtain academic credits. Event date: 20 June 2017.
This event was attended by more than 600 people and can be replicated; researchers are available to give presentations in schools.
