Back Information meetings on HIV infection, AIDS and other STIs

The Psycho-socio-behavioural Research, Communication and Training Operational Unit of the Department of Infectious Diseases periodically carries out HIV/AIDS/STI prevention events for lower and upper secondary school students. The objective is to provide information that is scientifically correct, in line with the actual needs of the very young, and conveyed in clear and accessible language on a subject – that of HIV, AIDS and STIs – which is often associated with prejudice, fake news, if not with a complete lack of knowledge thereon. To achieve this goal, a standardized approach characterized by steps and operational tools was created, which can be adapted on a case by case basis to the specific features of the classroom.

Target: lower and upper secondary school students.
Products: events, multimedia material.

Prevention sessions
The prevention sessions include:

  • analysis of the information needs of the target audience
  • use of methodologies aimed at ensuring maximum student involvement
  • presentation of the scientific content to the target audience in a direct and readily accessible language
  • indication of accredited information sources to which students can refer (TV AIDS and IST 800 861061 – United against AIDS website)

They are carried out every school year in different schools. The multimedia products created for the sessions are still available, the seminars are replicable and the ISS researchers are available to deliver them in schools.
