Diet

Eating in a correct and balanced way helps to prevent and treat some pathological conditions such as obesity, hypertension, diseases of the cardiovascular system, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer.

A healthy diet is very important for a healthy physical development starting from the prenatal period and then during the subsequent stages of life.

The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS, Italian National Institute of Health), through the national surveillance systems, detects eating behaviours of the population in different age groups and is committed to promoting the principles of proper nutrition through training and communication activities.
